Who's your favorite standup comedian?

Doug Stanhope and Dave Chappelle. Louis CK is good too.

Chapelle, Chris Rock. Kevin James's DVD was funny.

I'm going old school now....I would have to go with Richard Pryor, Rodney Dangerfield and George Carlin.....

I think you nailed it in the first post. Lewis Black cracks me up.

here's one of mine:

Oh, fuck yeah. Thats a good segment too cuz at times, he trails off.

George Carlin-real fucking funny at times, a good preacher most other times.

Dave Chappelle-funny whole way through

Eddie Murphy-funny whole way through

Chris Rock-funny, but more interesting

Ralphie May-funny whole way through, but I didnt like him live

Louis CK-havent seen much, but laughed when I did

I kind of need to hear cuss words in comedians. The word fuck has so much power in it, which is probably why it is over used, but oddly enough, I think its better used for comedy with anger coming in right after it.

Hell fucking yeah! Finally someone else recognizes Doug Stanhope. I have all of his albums, I even paid for 3 of the after the fact, because they were that fucking good.

Did you get to see him in Florida back in November? Aren't you in Flordia?

Anywho, it is so hard to pick a favorite. I am a comedy junkie. I listen to at least an hour of comedy a day, usually more. IT does my sorry soul a hell a lto of good.

Right now I am listening to a lot of Doug Stanhope, Bill Burr, Patton Oswalt, and Kathleen Madigan.

If I had to choose a favorite based on the life's work, it would have to be George Carlin. I have listened to him since I was 5. No, that is not a typo, my dad let me watch Carlin, Eddie Murphy, Richard Pryor, etc when I was 5. You can't imagine the amount of problems that caused me in elementary school.

Carlin has produced more comedy than any other Comedian. Richard Pryor comes in a very close second, and has produced almost as much original material. Lewis Black is relatively young still, and has potential to be in the same caliber as Carlin and Pryor.

So the short answer would have to be Carlin.

Good thread.

Tough call. Some very good ones. And the very good outshine many others.

I have my biases but my favorites are (were):

Bill Hicks
Sam Kinison

When I was a kid I liked (and I wouldn't like them as a juvenile or adult):

Gallagher
Steve Martin

Dang....lot of others that I need to remember.

Damn, I had no idea he was in the area.

Dave Chapelle's "killing them softly" was one of the funniest standup show's I have ever seen.

I dont know who my favorite is but I am a fan of Mitch Hedberg, love the nonsense and the laughing at his own jokes hahah

Mitch Hedberg was brilliant. He could find humor in everything. Even an arrow. "Don't tell me what to do. You straight line with 2/3 of a triangle at the end."

No way.
No how.

I dont want to get started on this fake mexican again.

Bahahaha. The only thing Carlos Mencia ever did that was funny was the fire storm he started. Joe Rogan tore is ass a new one right in the middle of his set.
Carlos isn't funny even with his stolen material.

Check out this clip. Joe turns Mencia's own crowd against him.
