Gary Coleman

Gary Coleman has suffered a brain hemorrhage and his condition has progressively worsened, his manager tells PEOPLE.

The 42-year-old Diff'rent Strokes star is now unconscious and on life support. His wife is at his side in the hospital.

"We appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers for speedy recovery," says manager John Alcantar.

The actor hurt his head Wednesday when he fell in his Utah home, and was taken to a local hospital. He was then transferred to the intensive care unit at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.

"He's unconscious and on life support at the moment," Alcantar says. "He had a brain hemorrhage and he was lucid but he went unconscious [Thursday] afternoon."

UPDATE!

'Diff'rent Strokes' Star Gary Coleman Dead at 42

Actor Removed From Life Support After Intracranial Hemorrhage

Former child TV star Gary Coleman has died after an intracranial hemorrhage suffered earlier this week left him unconscious and on life support at a Utah hospital.
The former child star slipped into a coma after suffering a fall in Utah.

"Child actor Gary Coleman died at approximately 12:05 p.m. Mountain Standard Time at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center," said Janet Frank, a spokeswoman for the hospital, in an e-mailed statement. "Family members and close friends were at his side when life support was terminated."

Coleman suffered the intracranial hemorrhage at his home in Utah Wednesday, possibly from a fall, though the exact circumstances have not been confirmed.

"He was immediately taken to a local hospital for treatment," Coleman's publicist, John Alcantar, said in an e-mail to ABC News.

Later Wednesday evening, according to Alcantar, Coleman was moved to another hospital for more tests and treatment. By midday Thursday, Coleman had regained consciousness and was lucid.

But his condition soon grew more dire.

"As of mid morning on May 27, Mr. Coleman was conscious and lucid, but by early afternoon that same day, Mr. Coleman was slipping in and out of consciousness and his condition worsened," the hospital statement said.

Fell down, hit his head, and died... what a shitty way to go at 42.

How the fuck do you do major damage to your head when you're only 3.5 ft off the ground?

^ My bad.

I shouldn't ask that, as it leads to assumptions.

He had medical/health probs most of his life.

He and Dana Plato.....has moved on.

Who's next?

I'm betting on Jeff Bridges getting 1. shot or 2, over-dosing.

maybe the hemorrhage occurred first causing the fall.
