Say a man has low test, even after years off steroids. At what age can HRT start to be taken?

Would doing HRT without a doctor be a stupid idea?

Reason I ask is I had a buddy come to me who took steroids about 2 years ago, has a low test (He said somewhere around 250-300) low libido, etc, etc... All the signs of HRT.

Also if he wanted to cycle steroids again, how would he do that?

Told him i'd see what some members had to say and let him know. He doesn't want to go to a doctor because it'll cost a ton and for insurances purposes. Personally, I think this is a bad idea but I want to help him out.

I have not read of any minimum age requirements. I would think a good doctor would put him on a restart protocol first after proper testing and examination and if that didn't work he'd go HRT.
If you're on HRT you just do a cycle, no need for a PCT since you're "on" all of the time.

1. you can go on hrt or trt at any age, but most doc's wont even look for that unless you have erectile dysfunction, not sleeping well, no energy, depressed mood, etc.. and most doc's would like to see you in atleast your 30's before they refer you to a specialist. You may have to make an appointment yourself.
2. Yes and no, I would only do it if you have no insurance and you are certain you need it. Otherwise, I would say no, because doc's do blood work and are constantly watching your lvls and making adjustments as needed. Plus they give you AI's.
3.as stated above, you can cycle as you never come off, you just have to cycle around your doc's blood tests so he does not see you using.

Agree and my Doc never even thought to look for any hormonal symptoms when I started having problems with ED. He just wrote out a script for viagra and gave me a bill on my way out the door. Once i figured out it was a hormonal problem I started taking some supp's to fix it and no more ED.

Like T said, I wish I had known about HRT and started on it sooner. It's pitiful the majority of the medical community chalk up hormonal problems as just getting old if they even recognize them at all.

What is the max HRT that would be recomended to stay on all the time?

hmm, if you are truely in need of trt or hrt, I would say like 200-250 mg week...this is just purely a guess.

so u would say that any thing over that would be more for body building..... than for just keeping test levels up!

My HRT Doc put me on 200 ml Test C and 100 ml Nadrolone (for joints and back pain) weekly, plus Armour thyroid and DHEA capsules. It made a huge difference.

Yeah I guess so. I guess the minimum test cycle for BBing would be 350mg/week, but I still consider that low. But I read that people do well with that little for BBing. This is kinda hard to answer as everyone is different.

He seems hes got all these issues. He's gone to the doctors and wasn't taken seriously since he is 25 and insurance was getting expensive for pointless things.

Would it be stupid for him to run 200-250mg a week and get the blood tests done once and while? I figure this is the best option for him in his position.

Blood tests will be hard to get. telling your doc you are self administering steroids is not a good idea. It will go on his file. He may just have to do it without blood work and listen to his body. His insurance will probably drop him if they catch wind that he is using steroids.

I recommended him a place to get private blood work for a decent price.

dosage will always depend on blood work.

To a degree.

The max. LEGAL amount that can be written is 200mg a week. No more.

You can restore the HPTA with massive use of HCG, HMG and clomid. It might take some time but it can easily be done.

Also if he wanted to cycle steroids again, how would he do that?

Why would he make things worse by starting a cycle? That is the last thing he should be doing.

My answers in red.

You learn something new every day.

i dont mean to sound rude but i have not really learned it since i do not believe it to be true. I work in HRT and have never heard of that

would you mind showing some documents that state that?

You don't have to believe it. I was told this by 6 different endocronologists, 2 urologists and 2 MD's.

Can you show me where it's listed as not being the case? I'm just curious, maybe the Dr's here are wrong???

i did some research and came up empty on any law stating a maximum weekly dosage

i did talk to my boss and as i thought,, dosages are up to the Docs discretion on what the patient needs according to blood work, body weight, and other determining factors.

Now as far as some pharmacies are concerned they will not dispense more than 500mg of testosterone on weekly basis

I have had multiple doctors over the years prescribe me more than 200mg of Cyp per week.

Really? Do you know if it's a state by state thing? I know when I went to see numerous Drs. and specialists that's what they all told me. Of course I HAD to ask you know.

Just my opinion.....but I started Androgel right at 39-40 yrs old and I can tell you that 1 androgel a day was not enough....which is 5mg a day. But 2 a day definitely got me in normal limits which amounted to 70 mgs a week. Libido and strength and all that "felt good". But yes, a blood test is the only sure way. But if no doctor, no blood test and I wanted to do my own therapy for the rest of my life.....it would be 100-200mg a week max. 250mg and above and you're getting into true bodybuilding levels in my opinion only. Based on being "ON" and being "OFF" now for a while.

MY HRT Doc said he could up my Test C to 400 ml EW, but only for a short time, and only at my request. He didn't seem happy about it, and mentioned that they are carefully monitored, and have very strict guidelines. Maybe anything over 200 ml is red-flagged, and invites closer inspection. Anyway, so I've stayed happy with 200 ml.

i have to agree with CT on this one as in nystate its max 200mg hrt. thats from about 20 clinicians plus my wife. but it is probably different in each state iam assuming. i know florida is relaxed about there rx needs. especially if going to a clinic. but my urologists at 1 time gave me 200mg shot. but mine came back at 1100 so he didnt want nothing to do with me after that reading. but if i just waited 6 months i would of got my loosy 200 mg a wk. xs 5 10ml vials he was going to write but thats for the 6months or yr. its been like 15 yrs since then.

update: just asked my wife, she said its different in every state. but shes a dumbass.

No idea. I think some docs just go by cookie cutter guidlines and others go by labs and/or symptoms. At 200mg Cyp weekly I measured 686ng/dl last month but my urologist kept asking me how I felt. I have admitted my past abuse and he said guys like me usually need more Test to feel better.

The other docs I used had zero problem scripting me 300mg weekly. They mostly were concerned with symptoms rather than labs. When my labs came back over 1,000ng/dl they did not lower the weekly dose.
