It was the original Pumping Iron video with a special out-takes and footage that was cut from the original film, as well as interviews with Arnold, Lou, and several others.

do you know if they plan on releasing it on DVD?

I couldn't find any info on the web if it's being released on DVD. If anything, it'll probably be a year from the release of the 25th Anniversary edition that's been playing on Cinemax....so I'd say look around November 2003 for a DVD..maybe....hopefully anyway..??
