IML Gear Cream!
Hey...I'm megga cheezed off!!!

I start this great new program...its been a while due to pressures with shift work and the kids...but I got a second lease on life and decided to jump back at the gym. Got into two months of hitting the gym five nights a week....doing the Upper body/cardio/lower body splits.....the flab started looking less flabby.....then KABBAMM
head into the Doctors office with a sick child....mention a slight twinge in the "girlies workings area" but put it down to the new ab workout.....nope....minor cyst!! Out it comes...no gym for two months!!!

Head back again...doctors happy....I'm rapped......back in 5 nights a week.....doing extra bits at home when the work schedule allows it.......eating right for the first time in ages....even got the hubby into the new eating plan.....NO CARBS AFTER LUNCH!!! Trust me this wasnt easy.......Flabs looking less and less......then KABBAMM.....I'm down with the bloody flu!!!

Is it due to my trying to do too much at the gym......is it just shyte luck.....or do other poor souls go thru the same thing???? When can I head back again....do I really have to wait till I'm over the flu or can I hit the weights earlier and cut back on the cardio???

What is the feeling about using the Fit Ball to do crunches??? I have found this is great for my "jelly-belly" (hey....after having 3 kids in 5 years....you tend to jelly out a little!!!).

Any help or suggestions would be great.....I'm heading for a better look for the first of July.......a special function is being held and I feel very doudy at this point!!!

Sorry about your luck. Some of it may just be coincidence.

I used to get colds all the time until I got in the habit of washing my hands immediately post work out. I also avoid using my hands to wipe sweat from my face during my workout. Have had just 2 colds in the last 2 years.

I feel for ya, Ez! I went through something similar....although I didn't have a cyst..thank God. I think for the most part, Rob's right...probably just a coincidence. I would advise waiting until you are completely flu free before returning to the gym....(I was out for three weeks myself) As for the fitness bal for crunches...I like it. Seems to provide a good bit of support, but makes you use other muscle groups to stabilize..
Good Luck!!

Are you taking a mutli-vitamin, or drinking orange juice? That might help fight cold a little. Also everyone else uses the stuff at the gym just like you do. Who knows what they have. So dont put your hands iny our mouth or whipe your face off with your hands after touching all that stuff. I dont thinky you working out has anything to do with you being sick. If it does its the first ive heard :p

Good luck on getting well

Hey guys....thanks for the words of advice!!! I'm almost over the worst of the flu....thank god!!!! Funny how once you mention how others use the equipment you stop and take a closer look at the way they wipe down afterwards....or should I say ...... dont!!!

Hey Ez, sorry to hear you're sick. Dont let it get you down though... once you're over it you have to jump back at it :)

I think Robs right, most people in the gyms are a bit 'o pigs. Also, make sure you're getting adequate rest. Now especially, but also when you're working out. Its easy to go overboard and start tearing your body down without realizing it... at least it has been so for me in the past.

I hope ya get better soon!

How many times do I have to show you how to work your abs?

Thanks guys.....Al....you worry me!!!!

Back at the gym....going almost five nights a week...anything to get back into shape......well....apart from the chocolate...that is!!! Been setting low targets in regards to weights being used....I'm doing more cardio....and slowly settling back into the weights.

Diet, other than the occasional chocolate late at night (nightshifts suck big time!!!) has been fine....and I have noticed the clothes getting looser..........but Al will be very happy....the bust hasn't altered any!!!!! 44DD......just for the record.....arnt they the first to go??????

Should I now increase the weights and start doing serious splits or continue with the cardio.......I've just lost the cough....and not so tired anymore????? I am serious about toning up.....almost to distraction....I now find myself sussing out my form whilst doing the weights..........

It's different on every woman, you're one of the VERY lucky ones.

There's an old saying in electronic maintenance, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." If what you're doing now is getting you where you want to go, why mess with it? If/when you hit a plateau, THEN change things up. :thumb:

I'm not getting there fast enough......I could make plenty of pornal comments here...but notice the restraint!!!! I was lookin' good before I got sick.....etc......now I feel that all of that has been for nothing and I cant get back there quick enough.....kinda like when I get over to your side.............:moon: .......to the States I mean!!!!!

Hey sweetness, 44DD wow :D

Jill trains my wife just the same as me, well almost.

We both lift heavy, three days a week. Jill has my wifes reps at around 12, and mine 6-10. Lifting heavy will not make you bulk up. My opinion is left three days a week for about 45 min to an hour, and do cardio three days a week. Jill believes in 20 minutes of interval training for cardio. Do not do the 1 hour on the treadmill.

Thanks honey-lips......has your wifes moods started to settle down since she started working out???? I found that I'm less stressed and more emotionally balanced after I've been going to the gym for a while

Oh, absolutely. She was taking Celexa for her anger and she gained a lot of weight. She hated it. So we got her off the Celexa and she started working out with Jill. She worked out kind of half heartedly at first and didn't see much improvement. Then she watched Jill do the World's strongest woman contest in Malaysia and now she is driven. She has lost over 20 lbs and is gaining muscle. She is watching what she eats and went from a size 12 to a size 6. She feels very good about herself. :thumb:
