[h=2]Tuesday's New York Daily News cover story is nothing more than a long-form editorial that attempts to make the AR-15 (asemiautomatic sport rifle) the bad guy in Monday's horrific Navy Yard shooting. Last night, CNN attempted to do the same through blowhard Piers Morgan. But there is just one problem: CNN and The Daily News are 100% wrong. The FBI has just confirmed that a shotgun and two pistols were recovered, and that the "gunman was NOT armed with [an] AR-15."[/h]Tuesday morning's Daily News cover hysterically blared, "Same Gun Different Slay."
AAB56CA3154F41998BA2100DE5970DF5.jpg

Inside, Mike Lupica continued the blare:
This time the shooter is reported to be a Navy reservist named Aaron Alexis and when he is shot dead by law enforcement, taken out before he can put a gun to his own head the way Lanza did, he has his light, handy assault weapon with him, and a semiautomatic pistol, and a shotgun.
But even if the shooter had used a semiautomatic rifle (which we now know he didn't), it would have been one he took from a security guard during the rampage. Maybe the Daily News didn't get it wrong; maybe Lupica and company are so far over the edge that they are now calling for the American military to be disarmed?
Meanwhile, over at CNN, within hours of the shooting, the network allowed Piers Morgan to launch his own sanctimonious attack against the AR-15:
--
--
But just a few hours later, CNN had to walk it back. Buried in an article singling out the AR-15, CNN reported that an AR-15 was not found on the scene.
Apparently, sometime yesterday, the talking point went out that said that the anti-gun narrative coming out of the Navy Yard shootings would be to turn the AR-15 into this massacre's convenient left-wing bogeyman -- all in an effort to get it banned.
The left-wing, anti-science media blows it again by caring more about the agenda than the facts.
This is especially devastating for CNN, a cable network desperate to get off the floor after non-stop debacles involving the Boston Marathon bombing, being caught openly pushing for gun control, and all things George Zimmerman. Eventually, CNN has to see Piers Morgan as the low-rated liability he really is. Straight out of the gate, within hours of this massacre, CNN already is a punchline ... again.

[h=2]It is "undeniable" we are told in the blurb for his new book, that Piers Morgan is one of the "most talked-about, controversial figures in the media today." This is the claim, anyway, of Shooting Straight, Guns, Gays, God, and George Clooney, Morgan's book, which hits bookstores on October 15. On Wednesday, nearly a full month before the book launch, Morgan began tweeting repeatedly about Shooting Straight -- coincidentally, within just two days of the Navy Yard shooting. When called out on his pathetic opportunism by Breitbart News' John Nolte on Twitter, Morgan lamely responded, "Can you name a single day when my book WOULDN'T clash with a gun outrage in America?"[/h]"From gun control and gay marriage to religion and pop icons," the advanced press releasesays, Morgan "tackles the hot-button topics head on."
It might seem a bit disingenuous, though, to claim that Morgan is a powerhouse on the American media scene. Since taking over Larry King's nighttime show on CNN, Morgan has been perpetually at the bottom of cable ratings.
As Dan Andros reported in August, since his first week on the air "Piers Morgan has failed and he?s failed spectacularly" in the ratings game.
"In his first 664 shows, Piers Morgan has placed 3rd or 4th (out of 4) an astonishing 85% of the time. He most commonly comes in a distant third place (60% of the time) behind Hannity and Maddow and is dead last with 25% of his shows. He occasionally places 2nd (11%) and he only lands in first place a mere 4% of the time."
The book blurb also notes that Morgan offers an "inside look" behind the scenes at CNN during "huge breaking news stories such as the killing of Osama bin Laden, Hurricane Sandy, and the massacre at Newtown."
The interesting thing is that the 4% of the time that Morgan has ranked first in the cable ratings game is when he happened to be on the air during one of those national tragedies.
As Andros drolly noted, "when Americans suffer, Piers Morgan is having a pretty decent day. When Americans are having a pretty decent day, Piers Morgan ratings suffer."
Nevertheless, the press release for Morgan's new book informs us that "once again" we will be shown "why Piers Morgan has taken the world by storm." And Morgan's book comes complete with an endorsement from Michael Moore!
Perhaps taking the advice of President Obama to "lead from behind," Morgan has been taking the world by storm from last place in the ratings.

[h=2]Though Fox News now dominates the cable news ratings during galvanizing national events like Monday's Navy Yard shooting massacre, CNN has of late beat MSNBC for second place, which it did Monday night -- except for Piers Morgan. Although Morgan immediately went into his default position of exploiting a mass-shooting for ratings, his primetime hour is the only one that lost to MSNBC the night of the shooting.[/h]Wolf Blitzer handily beat Al Sharpton and Ed Schultz in both total viewers and the all-important 25-54 age demo. Erin Burnett just as handily trounced Chris Matthews; and Anderson Cooper won both of his hours against Chris Hayes and Lawrence O'Donnell.
Piers Morgan, however, not only earned the lowest ratings of the night for CNN (except for a 11pm rerun), he lost to MSNBC's Rachel Maddow in both total viewers and the 25-54 demo.
Morgan is a genius at exploiting gun tragedy as a way to turn the spotlight on himself. No one questions that. Unfortunately (for his employer), the aging carnival barker is not able to turn that controversy into anything other than one ratings embarrassment after another.
If CNN chief Jeff Zucker is as smart as his champions say he is, some part of that Big Brain must be quietly humming, "How do you solve a problem like Piers Morgan?"
It is one thing to hire a Jerry Springer-type if his behavior can actually deliver viewers. But all Morgan delivers is low ratings and more damage to the reputation of a network that cannot afford much more damage.
One thing CNN can take comfort in is that so few people watched Morgan Monday night as he framed an entire show around a false claim based on his lazy brand of tabloid journalism.

[h=2]The mainstream media have awoken to the fact that President Barack Obama's partisan attack on Republicans during the Navy Yard attack on Monday may not have been the best idea, even if only for tactical reasons.[/h]The New York Times' Maureen Dowd worried that Obama's speech meant that he "cannot seem to connect anymore" and concluded that the president had been "overtaken by events." The Hill called it a political "blunder" and agreed, via a quote from a "former aide," that he had been "overtaken by events." (Poor President Obama, always the victim of circumstances not of his own making, always "overtaken by events"!)
While it is encouraging that the media have noticed Obama's attack--even though most networks cut away after he briefly mentioned the Navy Yard shooting--they continue to ignore three glaring problems:
1. The fact that Obama never considered canceling or postponing the speech. A president who does not realize that a mass shooting on a military base in the nation's capital city is a reason to suspend politics as usual is dangerously removed from his duties as commander-in-chief--never mind the political damage. In addition, he is receiving bad advice, ignoring good advice, or simply not being advised by staff who have learned that he tunes out all but a select group of trusted Chicago insiders and loyalists. By putting politics first, the Obama administration is putting the nation at risk--at a time when risks are only growing.
2. The fact that the media pilloried Mitt Romney for lesser sins in 2012. When Mitt Romney issued a statement criticizing the Obama administration's apologetic response to the Cairo embassy attack on Sep. 11 last year, the media attacked him viciously. Romney, too, was "overtaken by events": he did not know that four Americans would be killed in Benghazi. But the media never let Romney forget his alleged gaffe, while giving Obama a pass for his inaction that night. Because the media never hold Obama accountable for anything, he rarely takes his governing responsibilities seriously, exacerbating a dangerous vacuum in national leadership.
3. The fact that the Navy Yard attack happened at all, four years after Ft. Hood. It is easier for the Obama-supporting media to dwell on an inappropriate speech than to ask the much more important question: how did the attack happen at all? Four years after a similar mass shooting at Fort Hood, was nothing done to improve security at military bases? Why were rules restricting guns on base not changed? Did the Obama administration let the nation's guard down by downplaying Ft. Hood as "workplace violence" instead of terrorism? Why, after the NSA scandal, was there no review of security clearance procedures and lists?

Despite how much I hate Piers Morgan we need him. We need him to continue to spew his hate, and his BS. The reason is he looks unreasonable. People see that, they see how extreme he is and they recoil from it. It's the same reason the left tries to paint Pro-2A individuals as extremists living in bunkers who want to bring back the Wild West. The only way to win the middle is to paint the other guy as an extremist, and pretend that you are the reasonable solution. The thing about Piers is he does that for us. He is a complete loon who rants and raves about issues he doesn't understand, constantly lies, and shows his lack of knowledge about a subject. He shows just how unreasonable and untrustworthy the retard anti-gunners are, and we don't even have to paint them that way. They already are, and he embodies it.

he's like that prick jeremy kyle such a fvcking loser.

Piers thinks AR15s are weeksauce, when he wants handle a gun its the ma deuce he wants under his pillow

3 year old shot in the face in Chicago,,plus 12 others hurt......
Chicago Park Shooting: Child Among 12 Injured

I am pretty sure all of the shooters were law abiding citizens. All the laws in the world will not keep guns out of the hands of criminals. Maybe if we could have something for these teens to do beside sell drug for a living.... Naah that wouldn't work

First it was Chris Matthews, then that Rachel Madow cunt, now this British Fucktard is surely taking the cake as the BIGGEST DUMBASS on TV. There is not one impartial bone in his body less the one the Illuminati are sticking up there to control this guy. He is the epitome of controlled media and makes even the most unreasonable look compromising. I've never seen a "journalist" or should I say hack behind a camera have child like tirades on national television or berate his guest, calling them stupid or ludicrous because they don't capitulate to his globalist agenda. Unreal this guy, it just make CNN look like the absolute least credible news source out there.

PS - I hate this mother fucker with a passion and I reserve the word hate for those special kind of assholes like Hitler and Stalin...

lol Piers talking shit and wanting to ban weapons of all calibres, but I guess its okay just 4 yuks.

Piers Morgan isn't controversial at all. He's a communist that is hiding out in the US because if he went back to Jolly Ol' England he'd be arrested for some news scandal he was part of. I'm not really sure why he is on the air here.

Think Piers Morgan lifts ?
