here is some info about trans fats that most do not discuss.
fatty acids (and cholesterol) are used to construct all cell membranes in the human body. when an inferior fatty acid such as a trans fat is used to construct a cell membrane it's chemical structure is not compatibile with any other type of fatty acid so it doesn't really "fit". think of building a dike with holes built into it...same thing
so basically trans fats weaken the cell membrane's protective structure and function, which allows disease microbes and toxic chemicals to get into the cell more easily...
