% body fat question

My % body fat has dropped about 1%, but I swear my pants fit considerably tighter in the waist. Does that make any sense? Has this ever happened to you? A professional trainer has been measuring my %bf with calipers (7 sites). The readings around my waist seem to be going down a little - BUT tighter pants????
 
Your legs might have gained some mass or you might have gained lean mass in the torso if you didn't have any before (although that is hard to do).
 
If you've been working abs or obliques, your waist can grow from the muscles getting bigger.
