You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why ....

The Americans who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are.

Many Americans, like yourself, would like to start a grassroots movement using the membership of the Special Operations Association, and Special Forces Associations, and all their friends, simply, to recognize that Americans support our troops. We need to inform the local VFW's and
American Legion, our local press, local TV, and continue carrying the message to the national levels as we start to get this going. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops are -starting Friday, and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red - blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.

Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University.

If everyone of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red!

Let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.

I sent this out to everyone on my email list; hopefully, you will too.

Please forward this to everyone you know!!

Wear Red on Fridays .

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE
BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA.

Wear yellow everyday until you grow some balls to join up and go fight the fight you find so righteous.

Uh............. Come on Manic. That's a bit out of character for you isn't it? You don't see me demanding that all who support the war to go join the service and fight.

I get Witmaster's point here, but Manic's post still gets my seal of approval.

I guess I'm just a little caught off guard by the tone of it. It's as if to say that unless du510 enlists in the service and goes to combat his convictions and support of the troops is meaningless?!?

I would be more inclined to say, Unless you've walked a mile in my shoes, been there and seen the war in person, gleaned a full understanding of what is actually going on there and been a part of the solution, then shut the hell up and stop trying to "armchair quarterback" the troops efforts to complete thier mission.

However, I don't subscribe to this school of thought. The complete Irony of my situation is that I (and all other service Men and Women) are out fighting and defending your right to openly criticize us (and those that support us).

Now don't get me wrong. I am greatful for the critics and the skeptics out there. They are the ones who cause people to think through thier positions and defend thier beliefs. A good opponant in any debate is a necessary componant to justify our convictions.

a sea of red. how perfectly gory.

hmm my vampire is invisibe in monkeys reply. cooooooolllllll. and didn't anyone else think war, blood, red can't we pick another color? :(

I wish I knew. Blue has a calming effect on me. Perhaps that will work?

i was thinking blue.

No I don't think I will be wearing RED on any friday...

If I'm wearing RED...
I don't think the GOVT or any other lunk-head out there,
can tell the difference between my support of the troops,
and support of the GOVT...

I don't want to give any false impressions :finger:

I had a nice vacation over in the Desert in '91'...

And I appreciate the effort, by the highly trained men and women who are taking their desert vacations today...

But do I think they are doing much good (long term)...

...No

I think we should bombard the Middle east with Britney Spears CD's,
Playboy Mags, X-Boxes, and Satellite TV & Radio kits.
So they can see what's going on, on the rest of the planet

Put plainly... I support our troops. So lets bring them home

You know, when I went over there (both in 91 and just last year to Afghanistan) they gave us all this talk about how Porn is NOT allowed in the country...:blah: :blah: :blah:

Man, they (the locals) had some of the raunchiest, most humanly depraved acts of debauchery on DVD just waiting for us to buy as soon as we hit the ground!!

You do raise a good strategy though, once we flood them with the indulgences of western entertainment they are certain to succumb to our influences and start opening McDonalds chains throughout the region. :thumb:

I will wear a hawaiian shirt instead, red isn't my color.

I agree with you. This isnt about supporting GWB or congress. This is about unified support for our neighbors, brothers, and sisters that are over there doing their jobs. Nothing more.

And Manic, grow a sack. Read what I wrote above before you spit your anti-war rhetoric.

this thread is such BS, you can just merely say I support the troops and therefore support them, and wearing a color doesn't support them in any way either. You have to actually do something supportive in order to "support"the troops. I can't stand all these stickers, its ridiculous.

Great point. If anyone seriously wants to "do something" to support the troops. I strongly recomend you start here.

Well said.....I'm sick of all the colors and all the ribbons people wear or put on their cars because they are to lazy and cheep to do something that matters :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

This just leads to more polarization.

Will people dying, are YOU really doing ANYTHING by wearing red to work?

You are mixing apples and oranges: the "support the troops" slogan is not related to whether someone supports neo-conservative foreign policy in Iraq or not.

The "Support the troops" term was used in Japan in the 1930s and in Mussolini's Facsist Italy.

The troops are but one piece in a very complex puzzle.

Focus on the policy. The implementation. The geo- politics. Who benefits. And most importantly....the motivation.

America, unfortunately, is not as free as it was even 5 years ago. The troops in Iraq have no relation to the recent Congressional legislation and other statutes that have been past into law.

Don't the proceeds from those ribbons/stickers somehow go to the troops?
