Eat every 2 -3 hours from the time you wake up till the time you go to bed. While you up and around, your metabolism is high, your burning cals etc. I'd stop eating one a half to two hours before you went to bed. If it's a clean, bodybuilding friendly meal, ie. low in sat fats, and simple carbs and high in protein, that's a 'proper' meal the way I see it.
